I would concur with Ujal...a quick check of the crystal would not hurt.
On the other hand I would estimate at least %10 of the DMX devices out there can not accept DMX at the full update rate.
Some recieving devices are happy with a long MAB and Break time others actually require idle time between each character to process data.
This is a difficult design choice.
I would start with the classic Strand setup of 60uS MAB and 120uS break.
I am not sure how extensive the user interface of your device is but if you can provide a facility for setting 2 or three update rates that is generally helpful.
I have found that the most universaly acceptable setup is 60uS MAB , 120uS Break and 1 idle byte time between each data byte which results in a 24 hZ update rate.
I designed the Pathway Ultimate Converter which had a custom DMX parameter setup tool for the output.
