The Atmega128 controller has built in following memory:
– 128K Bytes of In-System Self-programmable Flash program memory
– 4K Bytes EEPROM
– 4K Bytes Internal SRAM
If you want to have some fixed data values that your controller sends to DMX-512 output you need some memory to store them. Suitable memory on chip would be either that Flash memory (expecially if they are programmed once there on the factury and then just used) or that EEPROM (if changeable by user and user can store their own settings to system so that they last over controller power on/off cycle).
