I had a question regarding using DMX dimmers such as a Strand CD80. Does the DMX value correspond to the light output percentage, scaled over the 0-255 range? For example, DMX values 0 through 2 are 0%, DMX values 3 and 4 are 1%, etc? This would make the most sense to me because then each slider on a board would control all 256 values.
(As opposed to each slider controls only 101 values and each value corresponds 1:1 with a light output percentage.)
I ask because I am trying to pre-design a show on my laptop and the software indicates DMX value (0-255) instead of percentage like the dimmer boards I am used to.
