RDM is strictly a polled protocol with one Master device and up to 512 "slaves".
A slave device can only respond to a poll from the master...ie: a dimmer can only send status data when it is requested from the master.
This is to avoid collisions with DMX data from the DMX controller and RDM data fromother devices on the same wire.
