We need your help. Paul Rodriguez, David Lee Garza, Michael Salgado, Ruben Ramos & Bob Gallarza have stepped up to help the community in collecting Christmas gifts and bicycles for the unfortunate children of Crystal City, Texas. We are trading a great looking collector's item t-shirt with all the photos of all the artists mentioned above in exchange for a donation of $20.00 or $20.00 in Christmas gifts. We are also soliciting anyone that would like to donate a bicycle to do so. You can either buy the bicycle yourself or donate $50.00 for each bicycle. If you donate a bicycle, New or slighty used, the bikes will be engraved with your name as well as the child that receives it. You will also get a note from the child thanking you in their own words. The t-shirts will be on display at Market Square at The Embroiderers in San Antonio where the gifts will be collected. Your checks can be made out to "Karing for Kids" or we can accept credit cards through The Embroiderers. About twenty five years ago I was working for the City of San Antonio at Market Square at which time I asked Little Joe of Little Joe & La Familia to perform for free at Market Square in order to collect toys for needy children of San Antonio. Little Joe agreed to perform at no charge on one and only one condition, That I would separate ten percent of the toys and deliver them to Crystal City, Texas for those kids. Needless to say, I personally took a truck full of toys to Crystal City. Little Joe has been rewarded for his good deeds by having an on going legenary successful career and numerous Grammy Awards Five years ago I was involved doing the Cystal City Spinach Festival and was approached by Mary Rivera of Crystal City, a past mayor, and was asked if I would be willing to donate to their Christmas toy collection. I said yes and I asked her what she needed and she told me that MARBLES and JACKS would be great. It broke my heart. We collected about fifty toys and two bicycles. We have steadily been increasing the amount of toys every year to include hot dogs, sodas and school supplies for four hundred kids and twelve bicycles. Actor/comedian Paul Rodriguez donated all monies ($1700.00) from sales of his t-shirts at a concert in San Antonio. Attorney Nelda Ortiz donated 400 hot dogs and chips last year and Attorney Luis Vera Jr. and his wife Rose donated lots of toys. This year our goal is 400 Christmas gifts, snacks, school supplies and 100 bicycles that we can accomplish with your help....Margo Morones.
