Re: Living For Today - Ignorant to the Past
There was an attitude that developed about learn it for the test, then forget about it, you won't need it anymore. NYC seems to have been the only place that had the special progress classes. In L.A., even in my time, there are the Advanced Placement classes. I didn't take them but my kids did. Those classes are more in depth and the kids have to pass a national test that is given on the same day all over the U.S. Younger people who act like they never heard of certain historical events just weren't paying attention or are of the learn and forget mentality. If you go to a public library and look up the current history texts you'll find that the history is still traditional. It's the learners who have changed. My rant for the day. Nancy
