Ducktoon

This morning when I went out to the sunroom about 7:30, I was greeted by a not seen before scene. I said yesterday that Daphne looked "perplexed" by not finding any egg in her nest. Today she brought witnesses, another four ducks. Daphne was struggling to get comfortable in her spot, now semi-blocked with some stones we were able to find. What I perceive as her mate, sitting down a few feet from her. In addition, another female and two males hunkered down a little further away but close to the parameter keeping watch. The males with crested heads and wiggling tails, one apparently interested in the other female who scooted away from time to time. Not too far, just enough to discourage the suitor's advances. Two squirrels who usually forage in our mulch every morning intimidated, running quickly up a small tree in front. Another day, another egg in the garbage disposal. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings, we've now placed a left over thriving poinsettia potted plant from the sunroom in her spot.
