Everyday, my daughter calls and asks how I spent my day. It's kind of redundant since there is never much to tell her. "I got up this morning and that's a blessing. I did some laundry, dusted, etc."
I do have something unusual that's grabbed my interest. My Florida room is glass from ceiling to floor. About two or three weeks ago, I noticed some Muscovy ducks waddling across the lawn. While the male stood guard, the female sidled up to the mulch under a window and proceeded to lay an egg and they took off. This happened every day for about the next week and there were six to eight eggs in the "nest" Hard to give an accurate count because she semi-buried them but I did count six. About a week ago, two males and the female showed up about 7:00 am. The female settled herself down and stayed the entire day while the males left after a couple of hours.
Now, the female hardly leaves. She spends the night, may leave for an hour or so in the morning and comes back and settles in hardly moving.
Maggie doesn't pay her any attention when I take her out so I'm surmising Mrs Duck feels secure. Every now and then, Mr. Duck shows up with no regularity. I'm beginning to recognize signals they make to one another
