Muffin, on the other hand, was my crutch. I followed her progress from the time her mother was pregnant to when she emerged as a ball of fluff. Got weekly pictures of her progress for the eight weeks before I got to take her home. I took her everywhere with me. We were very close and when it came time to put her down I thought my heart would break and there would never be another like her.
I was wrong. If Maggie had been given the same opportunities as Muffin, she would be even a better companion if that were possible. She has a better disposition and personality but she's never been exposed to the adventures that Muffin had. She adapts quickly and is very smart but newer restrictions have prevented taking her with us on a whim as we did with Muffin.
Mark Levine, one of the people I follow, just lost his dog. His grief so intense that he has cancelled all his shows for the past week. With great love for an animal, comes great pain at their loss.
