I'm sure "health" used as the reason wont be for a hangnail or something like a broken arm. There are more serious conditions. You remember my friend Doris from MV. She wanted a child more than anything on earth but she was diabetic with a lot of complications. Her Dr and some specialist she saw told her she would be risking her life if she got pregnant. She was devastated. BTW she finally succumbed to the disease in her 50s.
And then there's mental disorders. You must remember the ~ Story ~ of my mother's friend who jumped off the roof in Williamsburg rather than have to give birth to a rapist's baby. Also, forcing women to have to relive the nightmare of being raped for 9 months can probably push a woman into mental illness from the emotional stress alone. The fetus may not be the product of rape. Maybe things changed so much in her life she's a real emotional mess. A child would make her situation even worse. The woman counts too, not just the unwanted unplanned fetus. The anti-choice pro-birthers act as if she doesn't count at all. Like she has no feelings, no needs, no value - it's all about the fetus.
These things should be left between the woman and her Dr, not between some old white haired politicians still living in the past. will there be abuses? Of course. There are always abuses no matter what it is. Drs are not going to lose their livelihood to perform a late abortion where the woman and fetus are both in good health.
Unless I'm misunderstanding you you seem to think no late abortions should be allowed since "health" can mean anything.
