No, it's not curious at all that these young men would bring up the Office of Social Services. That is what they and/or their relatives/friends did of importance, and where they went of importance, when they got here. You do not know Mexican society as I do, those well-to-do or those not, and their attitudes on how to live life. If they themselves don't need assistance, i.e., the son of the owner of the hotel, their friends and family do. That is prime information for those that come here.
By the way, the owner's son was the leader of the pack. The entourage trailed after him. He was a celebrity because of his position. Mexico is a very class and wealth conscious society.
