The gas/electric combo fridges are great for traveling but are expensive. When there's no electrical hookups they auto switch to gas. But I read about converters where a regular house fridge can be used. I didn't delve into it too deeply though because at the time our RV fridge was working fine. The on-board generator would probably have to run to power it when parked. When on the road the engine would power it.
Since moving here we've only used the RV for day trips.
