Here in Southern California we have great diversity, especially the last few decades. Example: 92 languages are spoken in the school district. And the number of restaurants of every kind is mind-boggling. Anything and everything you could want.
And yet.....we are not happy with the pizza, and we have yet to find a really GREAT Chinese place in the west Valley! We used to go to 48 Mott Street, up the stairs in New York's Chinatown. Afterwards, we'd watch the doings at night court. And there were a number of places we frequented in L.A., i.e., a place called the Noodle House, where only Chinese workmen went, and a lovely nightspot called Kowloon back in the '60s. But Mike and I are not that mobile and energetic anymore, and my husbands are long gone, so we stay local now.
Sadness, yes. It comes to all of us.
