5 hours wasted because of a surplus to requirements washer, turns out the washer in the picture of the bits that fell out when i took the crank cover off (previous post) , isn't from on the end of the gear change shaft as i previously assumed. don't know where it was from but the bike now changes gear so its going into the spares box
