Have browsed three or four youtube vids on setting clearances and I agree with you that the people who designed the engine would be best to specify the gaps. The chap in our linked to video reccommends both tappets set to 3thou' but he says that some people go to four or five. A chap in one vid who looks competent recommends four on the inlet and six on the exhaust. ? Not that this all matters much as long as the exhaust isnt held off its seat and burning away. As someone said on here a while ago "a noisy tappet is a happy tappet"
