For what its worth Sir Klip Im with Orange via the BT line, my symtoms are almost exactly like yours. When I was visiting Heartlands our phones went down, Mrs Prof could not ring out and people who rang in got no answer so, BIG mistake she called BT or an off shoot we were charged I think £300 as the engineer had to open up a cople of boxes in our home, he did manage to get one phone working but only overnight, I got it sorted in 5 mins when I got home, faulty main BT box. Weather does affect the system, and we cannot I play, , Utube buffers a lot but works now and again. HOW EVER we are well out on a limb and at the very end of a very old BT line.You are not on your own. My vodafone wire free works a little quicker and I keep it just in case.
