First thing, be cheeky, call them up, tell them it's come to your attention that you are on a party line, and you want your own.
They will either 1) Tell you you are mistaken, or 2) Say yes certainly we can do that for you. They WILL tell you the truth, rules have changed, and they are obliged to take you off a party line and give you your own, if you are on one, and you request it.
I've been Talk Talk for a few years now, I'm fed by overhead wires to the middle of nowhere. I have to say, all faults are dealt with efficiently, though I feel I sometimes wait longer than I did with BT. I don't agree that BT won't fix it as you are with Talk Talk, it's certainly not my experience. I would report a fault, tell them there's constant crackling making it hard to have a conversation, and have a chat with the engineer when he turns up. I find them really helpful here.
