I've heard this before but don't see how it is possible. Lake Erie is a natural lake created by indentation of glacial ice. Here in Girard we HAD two man made lakes because we built a dam in the 50's but when it needed repair the city had no money to do so for years so the dam got really bad, the Army Corps of Engineers came in to inspect and it needed to be breached. Now we just have giant pits where the lakes used to be. Meander Lake, where we get out fresh water supply, is man made. So is Nelson Ledges State Park, it was originally a quarry which they filled up with water, deep water.
