Marble is way to soft of a stone material for anywhere where there is heavy traffic. It gets all marked up. Most people use marble and after they see all the scratches wished they used something else. It's like an emerald ring, they look fantastic, but scratch and break easily. Many years ago I was going to buy an emerald ring and wanted it reset. When I went back to the jeweler he was spitting on the floor, cursing and waving his hands cause he cracked the stone I asked to be reset. It lost 90 percent of its value and I didn't buy it. It was unfortunate cause it was a 5 carat perfect Columbian emerald (Columbia has the best color for emeralds). We looked for months for the stone. We stopped looking and learned the hard truth after his experience.
