Do to the weather forecast for Ionia, Michigan there may be a need to alter or delaye some of the running order or even cancel all or a portion of the trial this weekend.Still hoping we can accommodate the large entry but weather dictates the safety for animals and participants..Entries close tonight 8pm.Thanks for your understanding Jim Cipp
The decision has been made to cancel this weekends trial.This is very unfortunate because we had over 70 dogs entered.This is the first time in the clubs 50 year history we have cancelled due to weather!With so many participants coming from Wisconsin,Indiana,Ontario,Ohio,Pennsylvania and of course Michigan the club has determined this is the smartest decision.... Those traveling with horse trailers are very concerned about the safety just attempting to get to Ionia.The hazardous conditions on the grounds themselves are another major concern.The mounted judges,handlers and scouts would be susceptable to serious injury.The same holds true for the judges and handlers in the Walking stakes.The predicted low is 14 degrees Saturday night.The ground will be frozen and enhance the chance of injury to dogs pads and horses hoofs let alone our brittle bodies..The safety of our people, horses and dogs is more important than attempting to run this trial.I hope to have a make up date later this Spring if there is enough interest.
