Open Shooting Dog will start each morning at Wilson Township Park 7:30 -8:00. The plan is to run six braces on Saturday and finish the remaining two braces on Sunday. If there is no river flooding, the course order will be pretty much the same as it normally is. Wilson Park Course, Gasline Course, Highline Course, HorseCreek Road Course, County Road H Course, Stokley Diablo Jake Course.
Open Derby will start on Sunday at about 11:00 on HorseCreek Road Course. Multiple courses will be used.
Regrettably, there will be no lunches available. Please pack your own.
Economical entry fee of $50 for a one hour open shooting dog, and $30 for 30 min derby. It is easiest to deal with checks, made out to "CVGDA".
I had to watch my nephew's playoff game on streaming, so I got a late start on the draw. It will be posted here later on.

Good day in the woods today. Nice to get the spring slate of trials off the ground. Quite a few birds around. Nice to see some new and familiar faces. Thanks to all that helped keep things rolling with truck movement and such. Good mixture of grouse and WC. Numerous birds pointed today.
We are on schedule.
We will finish the OSD on Sunday morning. Brace 7,8 Shooting Dog handlers should meet at Wilson Township park.
At the conclusion of brace8 of shooting dog, we will roll all the way over to HorseCreek Road course to do announcements, and start up the derby (about 11am).

Saturday evening rain turned to snow and ice by Sunday morning, which made things a little tougher for the final two shooting dog braces. But we still moved some grouse and wc, and got some nice performances. Regrettably a porcupine ended things for one worthy but unfortunate participant. I think they got the victim plucked and stabilized soon after.
Snow softened by the time we started the derbies. There was some solid derby bird work, with a few more birds stirred up by the dogs and gallery. It was a nice stake. Thanks to Josh Horvat and Lydia Sittlow (with help from her Dad) for filling in, the derby panel.

The next CVGDA Of WI cover dog trial will be on April 9,10,11. Open Shooting Dog, followed by the coveted Don Didcoct Am Shooting Dog Classic. Open Derby will round things out. Dutiful club member from the Wausau gang, Roger King, will chair those proceedings.
