I appreciate Helen getting us the placements so quickly and I understand that posting pictures is a bit cumbersome in the system.

Here are the winners of the CH.

Its really sad that you cant or wont post pictures of the winners. All the work and money that goes into getting these dogs ready to compete. I do not think asking for some pictures of the winners is to much.

Billy, I judged the Puppy & happened to have a picture of the winners. I don't have any for the Derby or CH winners. Given the opportunity here, I thought I'd bore people with what I thought was an interesting story from judging this Puppy stake. Story at the bottom.

From Left: Handler John Stolgitis with 1st place "Ivy", Judge John McKellop III, Judge Robert Boos, with 2nd place, Beth, handled by John Stolgitis, & 3rd Place Chippewa's My Way Gracie with handler Zack Erne.

Congratulations to these 3. All 3 ran great races & showed much future promise. There were some other nice Pups too!

Now the story: 1st brace, big running Pointer, who's running with no bell on, disappears to the front. My handler & I are way, way behind the other handler & judge. We had heard the bell of one of the "AA" dogs running in the CH a few minutes earlier maybe 150 yards behind us, then fade back out.
Couple minutes later the Puppy handler yells point, stabbing his finger forward to a dog standing majestically on point!!, I'm immediately very impressed! The beautiful Pointer was standing rock solid about 60 yards away in some light cover. As the handler stood there looking, I said, well, lets go flush! As we approached the dog moved up a few feet & the handler immediately said "I don't think that's my dog". His dog did not have a bell on. This one did. And seeing it more clearly as we approached, he said, "no, that's not my dog". Then a Grouse blew out as we came closer. Nope, it wasn't his dog, it was one of the AA dogs from the CH running at the same time. Now, in telling this story to someone afterwards, in how amazing the timing was in losing to the front the Puppy, coming over the rise and there is a similarly marked Pointer with a great Grouse find that obviously had been there for a long time, they remarked that the handler should have collared the pointing Pointer, took it on, & let the judge sort it out!
Hey, maybe it would have worked?!? I don't know, maybe I would have noticed that we started with a Pointer with no bell on, & this one had a bell. Maybe?! Maybe not?!? Something to think about, though. Quick thinking can win a trial!
