Awesome looking dog there. I should add that I am a sucker for black and white pointers, but that there is a beautiful dog. Nice pointing style too.
I believe that Mr. Whele's key to continuing success, aside from a bottomless checkbook, was a clear vision of what he wanted to produce and the will to pursue that vision. He bred to a standard of perfromance, temperament and conformation and did not waver from that standard, evenn if it meant he had to go outside to get what he needed. He was immensely(and justifiably) proud of his line of dogs, but when the need arose, he outcrossed his best, most typey females, both to get back what he was losing to inbreeding and to improve where he could.
I daresay we shall not see his like again in the bird dog world.
