PLEASE, PLEASE do not be afraid of chemo. I know that just the word brings out terror in people. I sure did for me, but it's nothing like I thought it would be. It was no picnic, but it was just not as bad as I thought it would be. I had 8 rounds of chemo (every other week). I felt flu-like symptoms for 3-4 days during the first 4 cycles, but that was all. Virtually no problems with my second round of 4 (different chemo).
Please get in touch with your local cancer society to see if there are support groups. It will make a world of difference.
My cure for my anxiety attacks: stay busy. I would get them driving, relaxing....it didn't matter what I was doing or thinking, the attacks would suddenly appear. I weaned myself off the meds and started immediately getting up and doing something as soon as I felt my heart start to race. I have only had one in five years!
HUGS. You CAN do this!!!! Post on the main board if you have any questions at all.
