I think being a caregiver is much harder than being the receiver! My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer and 2 yrs later, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins. So we have been there too. A mild shampoo will help remove dry/dead skin after his hair loss. I would get anything that he wanted to drink--even if it's not a usual beverage for him.
And you're right--it's always nice to ask a caregiver how THEY are doing!! You and your DH are on my prayer list.
