I believe each onc is different as is each insurance company. My onc ordered a bone and CT/PET scan before my chemo began (March 2011), when it ended (November 2011), and now I'm scheduled for a third set the first week of February. I have a friend who only had one PET scan and that was after she finished chemo. You should talk to your wife's onc to see what he/she recommends.
