I had Taxotere (a first cousin of Taxol). When my hair started to come out my head felt like it was on fire. It burned and itched like crazy. Once the hair left those went away. I can understand why the nurse would say your head would be too sensitive. I had my hair buzzed just before the burning started. It was much easier to keep up with those little stubs of hair as they came out then it would have been with my previous 8 inch long hair. If your head is sensitive try a buzz cut or a very short clipping. That might help.
As for being bald there is definitely one advantage, you won't have a bad hair day for a long time. You also save money on shampoo and hair cuts. Invest in sweat bands for your head if you run. Amazing how much sweat your hair collects and without it you could drown while running!
