Hi Robyn,
I don't think there is one of us here who wasn't scared on the first round of any new drug. It's perfectly normal and understandable but like I always say. It can never be as bad as you can imagine it so just try not to imagine it at all. Keep your mind and body busy with something else anytime that fear creeps into your thoughts.
Did you get the port put in your chest or do you have the pick line in your arm? If it's in your chest, did you get the lidocaine to put on the port one hour prior to chemo? If not call the onc today and get them to call in the script. It will make accessing the port completely painless and that will be one less worry. If it's a pick line in the arm it won't hurt but those do tend to be aggravating. Don't overpull on those exercises. Slow and steady here Robyn, if you over stretch you're just going to cause more damage and set yourself back. This was major surgery and it's going to take time to heal up. Please be patient. I know it's hard and you want to get healed up quickly but slow and steady wins the race here, I promise.
Glad you got your new boobies and the ACS program will be very helpful to you. I loved going and really learned some neat tricks to hide the effects of chemo.
You'll get a new normal going really soon now that you're starting tx's. Course you'll have to find a new normal again when you're all done but that's down the road and right now it's best to live in the NOW.
Praying you have a smooth and easy ride for the first round. Please let us know how it goes.
Hugs,
Penny
