Well Ladies,
Once again, my Squeaky Wheel technique has paid off in spades. About 4:30 Tuesday afternoon I got fed up with waiting on an answer for the trial and emailed my contact with an ultimatum.
Basically, "Either have me an answer by 10 am Thursday (my next onc appt) or I'm going back on chemo till you decide and then if you want me, you can wait four weeks on me."
A little after lunchtime today I got an email saying that I got the waiver and was asked if I could be there by 2:00 pm Friday to get started on the prep work for the vaccine.
So look out Mobile, here I come!!!
It's been a whirlwind day and I'm emotionally and physically wiped out.
I was freaked out this morning cause I started coughing up blood
with the normal mucus I've been hacking up for a couple of weeks due to sinus drainage (I think). Called the onc nurse and she called the doctor and got back to me with "It's probably just a small busted blood vessel from all the coughing." and started me on anti-b's just to be safe. I'm still seeing the onc tomorrow to get an increase in dosage on my pain meds
and have him check out my lungs. The good news is that I haven't coughed much at all today since this morning and what little I did get up wasn't all bloody, just a tiny speck or two.
Got to work a little late this morning due to all that drama and then had to leave at 11:00 to get blood work done (in case of chemo Thursday). I finally met with a mast. fitter to get a real prostetic and a great tank top with a pocket and two mast. bras. All for free since I've met my ins. out of pocket expenses for this year. I've been making due with a home made boob for almost a year now cause I couldn't afford the co-pays and this new one and tank feel so much better than what I've been making due with.
Then, after I got the "all's a go" email I had to call and move my PT (physical therapist) appts around. Did I tell ya'll that I met with a PT Monday and I really think he's going to be able to help with my neck and shoulder pain??? Anyways, to make a long story short
(LOL as if!!!)
I had all these people to call and stuff to do, while at work, trying to do my job at the same time.
Whew, I'm beat but too excited to sleep and my neck and shoulder is burning something fearse. Gonna stop for now and get in a hot shower which helps with the pain. I'll wear your eyes out a little more tomorrow.
Hugs,
Penny
P.S. My heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all you gals for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Between all the prayers, good vibes, chants, etc. and my "squeaky wheel" technique I think we could move mountains if we wanted to.
