Not sure what dosage your taking on the Ativan but you can get it as small as .5 mg. I can take 1 mg and not even tell I've taken it but then I've been on it a long time and have built up a tolerance. Try cutting the dosage down and see if that doesn't do the trick for you.
As for your poor little veins...I feel for you Honey. It's hard for me to imagine an oncologist who doesn't recommend ports. I would at least ask about getting a pick line since you're already through the worst part of tx. It's like having an IV line installed in the underside of your upper arm that can stay in till you are finished with tx's. It's not as good as having a port but at least it wouldn't be so hard on your veins and you wouldn't have to be stuck for each tx. Something to ask about anyways.
