I guess you have to look at it this way. A hysterectomy is still a major surgery with a six week recovery time. There are risks to any surgery and complications do happen.
Mine was vaginal and easier to heal from but still a major deal. I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't for the constant pain and the indometriosis can become uterine cancer.
As my onco explained to me, your ovaries aren't the only source for hormones although it is a major one and removing the ovaries doesn't block the remaining hormones to the cancer cells like tamoxofin does.
I'm sure there are other reasons as well like throwing you into early menapause which isn't fun and can last for years.
