I took tamoxofin for about four to six months and between that and the chemo was thrown into early menapause. I had to have a complete hystoretomy. Had huge ovarian cysts (not cancerous) and the beginnings of indometriosis. Gyn said I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Couldn't have hormones to shrink the cysts and start my periods again and was in allot of pain from the cysts and indometriosis. Decided on the hystorectomy at age 39 and have not been on any other hormone therapy. The hot flashes were bad at first but have gotten less severe and allot less frequent now(I'm 42). I don't think I had bad mood swings but the husband may not totally agree with that. LOL.
Depending on your age, you may just want to have your ovaries removed. My onc. wasn't keen on that idea but after the problems I had with tamoxofin, the gyn convinced me to be done with all of it. No more worries about cervical, ovarian or uterine cancer. BC is enough to deal with in my opinion.
Good luck with your decision and please let us know what you decide.
Hugs,
Penny
