There is also a Beginning Synchro class that introduces potential swimmers to the competitive teams. Our swimmers have qualified for Age Group Nationals since 1994 and have also competed at US Opens several times. We have an involved and committed Parent Advisory Committee, as well as participation from other friends and family of the swimmers. DESCRIPTION: The Olympia Y Synchro Club is a dynamic, competitive program with a rich history and tradition. Responsible for all aspects of a synchronized swimming program including coaching, coordination with parent group and YMCA management, program development and community outreach. PROGRAM: Program includes all levels and abilities of synchronized swimming; Beginner classes, Novice, Intermediate, Age Group, Junior, Senior, and Master swimmers. Enthusiastic and energetic synchronized swimmers are seeking two dynamic and professional part-time coaches. The Olympia Synchro Club is a growing, competitive program with a rich history and tradition in Olympia. The OSC enjoys the commitment and support of parents, the Olympia Downtown YMCA and the larger community. Join us in the continuing development of this exceptional sport.
We encourage anyone with synchronized swimming (or related) experience to apply.
Primary duties of coaching positions
Coaching routines at the same level
Coaching figures at all levels
Able to plan and coach practice without guidance
Have good time management skills
Have a positive attitude and work well with athletes of all ages and levels
Willing to work weekends when needed
Head coach
Plan and coach practice with up to 25 athletes
Organization skills needed
Be able to plan and run water shows
Able to work weekends
Attend meetings, club, level and PNA meetings
Make monthly schedule
Plan other events such as pictures, fundraisers, shows, meets, and other team or level gathering
Be able to work well with all levels of swimmers and be able to accommodate each skill level and commitment level
Plan meetings and run them if necessary
Work for the greater good of the club and be able to detach themselves from one group or another for that reason
Have a goal and a time line to achieve that goal for the club
Good morals and decision-making skills
Set a good example in front of the athletes
