Posted by Victoria As far as the packet goes, a lot of the information in there is useful as far as the administrative stuff goes. I guess what I was thinking of is answering the questions that a lot of the athletes in my club had back in October, such as "what are judges looking for?" and "how do you write a routine?" and even "what kind of workouts can we do to get better?". For the first month or so we were a little bit lost, but we've figured out what kinds of workouts help us, what we need to emphasize when running our routines, and we've gone from a group of three or four people who could barely do a respectable ballet leg in November to a team of six that scores in the 7s at meets. Nothing we did was all that spectacular, but it helped that two to three of us had some competetive experience and were able to let the new athletes know what to concentrate on. I think a lot of times, clubs that don't have coaches don't even know where to begin, or how to improve, and there are some really simple things to think about (like extension and sharpness) that could make the process easier and less frustrating for them, especially when competitions roll around. I'd like to get it all down on paper while it's still fresh in our minds, and I know there are other clubs out there, like BU, who just went through this process, and I think we could help out new clubs a lot.

Anna, it would be great if you could help out. I'm going to be moving in August due to a job relocation, so while I can help with preparations, I can't actually be there. I'll bring this up with some of the clubs at ECACs. I'd actually like to have it at MIT, since we not only have the facilities to host a great deal of swimmers, but also have all the swimmers from MIT and BU who can help put people up for a night, and it's fairly easy for people to get to Boston if they can get to a train or bus station.
