Posted by Victoria 1. A pre-season clinic: Maybe in late-October or early-November, we could have a one-day clinic at a relatively central location for all the East-Zone Collegiate Clubs. We could invite in a coach from somewhere, maybe even a local coach to make things simpler, to talk about what judges look for in routines, how to do the basic figures (we could divide up for the figure groups if it made sense), and how to write a synchro workout to get into better shape for your routines and figures. If possible, it would be great to have the swimmers at the host institution put up the people who have to travel a long ways for a night. 2. A Starter Packet: This is something we could distribute to new clubs all over the country. I'd like to take input from a bunch of clubs in the same situation as us (just starting up, and no coach), and make a list of suggestions based on what has helped make us successful, and what we wished we'd known from the begining. Since MIT started its club about four months ago, this is all fresh in my mind, and I don't think it would be too difficult to articulate what things have helped us get to the level we're at right now (which isn't all that great yet, but we're getting there). If anybody would like to get involved with any of this, or if you have any comments, please let me know, or post here! My email address is vkanders@mit.edu. -Victoria Anderson

Wow, two messages in one day with clubs looking for coaches! If you count that BU and MIT are also still without a coach, that's four teams in the Northeast that are looking for some help. I guess I have two ideas.
