I just read the following on http://www.womenssportsfoundation.org:
November 5, 2002 -- The University of California, to its surprise, was notified by the National Women's Law Center that it was in violation of the scholarship policy of Title IX. The NWLC determined that female athletes were receiving only 40 percent of the total scholarship money, when the numbers should have been between 46 and 47 percent. The NWLC is prepared to take legal action against the administration of Cal.
