Posted by kenya (from GA) My name is Kenya (from GA) and I have been reading the postings for about a week or so now and I love how we as strong black women got it going on.I am in school now and I will finish in March and I just want to get my skills on before I finish school. I have a couple of postive mentors and you ladies who I have to help me out in so many ways because you only learn the basic in school and you need more than that in this business. Where I live the Asians have the nail business on lock down. I go to the Asian shop to get my nails done because I want to see how they do their work. I ask the lady who was doing my nails could she train me she told me not now because it is going to get slow this time of the year on pedicures. I was like pedicures I want to learn nails too, she said yes you have to work your way up. I remember one Asian guy just started to do nails and he did not do pedicures at all only nails because they have a white girl with no license or GED to do pedicures. And the way she told me that if she wanted a nail tech she would have to put in an ad in Atlanta for a experience Asian nail tech because we Asians do not hire out of race it is like a family thing she added. If we have more black nail shops we could make her bite those words. Ladies on this site we have the skills to do it by networking from city to city, state to state we are a family on this site.
