Hi Peter,
I started by scraping off what I could with scrapers and screwdrivers (for the loose stuff) then used a heat gun to melt and scrape off the rest. This is very messy and it's easy to get burnt so use gloves.
What was left after that I removed with standard cellulose thinners (gun wash) - came off a treat!
