My great grandfather was Frank Pfannenstill. He died in 1895. Most of his descendants used the name Fanstill. How do I find out if and when the name was changed? My husbands family name was Biniak and later (when?) changed to Bennett. Are there records of these changes somewhere. Our families are from Chicago, Ill.
