I had family in Clark County. And I am researching the Bohn Name. I have found a great deal of informtion from your state and Clark County and Darwin. My gg grandfather came to Darwin, Clark county by covered wagon from Pa. His name is Ludwig (Lewis) Bohn. He brought his whole family with him. Wife Elizabeth and five children. One which is my G. grandfather is Philip Bohn. Who died of a loggin acident in darwin in 1852. I am trying to join the DAR and I need information to prove that Philip is the son of Lewis(Sr)In articles from Il. I find that Lewis owned a large tract of property in Darwin. This is in a article of Early History of Darwin. What I need to know is where and how I find some place to send for early land records and Probate. I not sure but from records I can find I think he died after 1816. In 1816 he left Pa and traveled to Illinois.I was told that he homesteaded in Darwin. Just need some place to get a probate.
I know that the Bohn family had a ferry accros the Walbash River. And in Darwin there is still a sign with the Bohn name on it. I was in Darwin and Clark Co. to visit in 1997. Enjoyed my visit very much.
Would appreciate any help on Probate's and wills and where I might write to receive information.
Thank you very much. Marion Bohn Sperry.
