reread you posting on Deramaxx, rimadyl et c below.Before i retired i used to send home my spays and castrations the same day of surger and with no pein med , but dispensed a little stuff and tell the owners to give it if the pup needed pain control.i can't remember anytime i got ythe call that they felt the pup was in pain...i 2would operate in the morning and they would be bouncoing around in their cages in the afternno and especially when they heard the Wirhl ofr sound of their owners care or voices..would do C- section, finish up and give a little analeptic to wake them up, either put the mother on the floor or hand her to the owner...The tail would be wagging, or if on the floor, they would bounce up and down to see the pups...did the same dispensing of pain med with the same instruction..beingcarefull so that the pups didn't get the medd through the milk...the only time i really sent home pain med with instructions to use was with any type of bone surgery////in fact, on a pareviousboaard i got reamemd out y saying that i didn't think animals perceived pain as humans...but you do a c-section on a human and see how long it would take her to bouncee around like a dog does...i can assure you that if a human male type were castrted, he would not go running around lik the dogs did after.,..he might run around bnut to keep people away from him./.....i don'tknow whqat power animals have to hide their pain...could cvastrat about 100 calves, no anestghesia and all would run back to Mama, start nursing agzin and not skip a abeat... i guess the have pain but can for some reason be able to ignore...one last example...i could have a auto trauma case come in and scratch him/her behind the ears znd th the tail would start wagging....howe vver in these cases i gave pred or something to releive any pain to avoid shock.....you will notice over the years that my typing and spelling has no improved.....
