There is a store in my neighborhood that sells a couple of "top" brands of kibbled dog food, and two or three brands or pre-made raw diets for dogs. The owner is a friend of mine, and she told me that this past month, she had problems on two occasions with bad kibble: once it was mold in the bags, and another time a customer returned a bag complaining of moths or bugs in the kibble, and on opening other bags of the same brand, more were found. I won't name the kibble brand(s) because it doesn't matter; occasional problems can occur, and the matters were dealt with promptly by the manufacturer(s). But it's kind of funny: two problems with bagged kibble, nary a complaint about the raw foods. H'mmm, I know where *I'd* conclude the problems lay, but then, I don't belong to the prestigious Animal Population Health Institute.

the APHI is a "think tank" funded by, oh, the nice folks at Science Diet and/or Purina and/or Iams?? I know *I'm* not thinking that!
(Although with the number of dogs in my house, I could call this place something very similar, I'm sure.)
