Posted by Lamneth on 12/12/2004, 12:24 pm FYI, He has been fed a mix of Chicken Soup puppy and Prairie raw since she got him at 8 weeks...until the vet said less kibble protein. Also, I wonder if vaccinations caused this? I've read that after a week or so after vaccs, dogs can develope the symptoms of HOD and I will have to find out exactly when it was he was vaxed last...I know it was for rabies and something else...poor guy...I never "went there" about the vaccs...I remember having a BAD feeling about it when he got them...hence the reason for me looking into vaccs as a cause. Thanks for reading,

I have a friend with a JRT pup (my nephew LOL) about 5 months old who was just diagnosed with this. She first noticed his front feet turning in slightly and was worried and as it got worse she decided to take him to the vet. The vet noticed one front leg slightly atrophied and after X-rays...inflamed growth plates in all the joints in the front and bone spurs. This poor little guy! Vet said that was WAY weird in a small breed. He is now on steroids, vit C, MSM...and is fed a mix of raw prairie and senior Chicken Soup kibble (vet said high protein kibble would make it worse but raw ok). Personally I'd feed 100% raw...and I would have done that from 8 weeks you know me. But I'd like to know if you guys have any suggestions I could tell her...she will do anything for him! (She's even thinking about 100% raw)
