Posted by Karen on 2/24/2007, 7:34 pm I am trying to gather some very general information as to how many dogs and cats (and other species) euthanized at shelters are owner surrenders as opposed to animal control bring ins. I teach classes on pet preparedness/problem prevention and want some general data to help drive home the importance of responsible pet ownership. There is a lot of data out there on why animals are given up but very little on breakdowns of euthanasia numbers. I was very constrained by the survey form (limited to 10 questions) but I think I can still get a feel of the issue of owner surrenders and euthanized pets. This will only be available for a month (until March 23) so please cross post quickly. I also beg you not to take this survey if this is not applicable to you or if you do not have access to euthanasua records. I do want this to be as accurate as possible within the constraints of the survey program. Thank you, Karen
