Posted by connie on 1/27/2006, 10:12 pm Anyway, Rudy is getting neutered in two weeks, and when he's anesthetized they'll x-ray his hips and spine. (His left hip seems fine.) It could be CHD, or it could be that he was injured sometime, hit by a car or something and it never got treated. Don't know; his past is a mystery! Good job I got the ramp on the deck, huh?! So, of the 7 Shelties I have owned and own, ALL the males (four of them) have had CHD, and NONE of the females (three of them) have. How odd-- or is it?

Good gosh. Rudy, the rescue I adopted in November (the world's sweetest dog!), has a bum hip. I thought he did, because I noticed that he never lies on his right hip; he never jumps; his hip popped the few times I got him to sit; and he does the stairs one at a time. Today at the vet, for a blood draw to check his thyroid levels, I mentioned it and the vet tried to extend Rudy's right rear leg, and couldn't. ![]()
