You probably realised that I had a great time in Saulieu this year - the best since I was in Louisiana. Wanted to tell you a few more highlights for me from my other post.
The first is a remarkable experience on the dance floor on the Sunday night when we had moved into the hall after the thunderstorm. Dancing Jitterbug with Mo, we went into a fast spin and as usual trying to stop getting dizzy by keeping eye contact. Then her face went into the clearest sharp relief imaginable and seemed to be surrounded by a soft cocoon of gentle colours. coming off the floor Mo was telling me it was exactly the same for her - good job the earth didnt move! Has anybody else experienced that?
Elvis Fontenot & SB's were great and quite literally blew up a storm in the square on Sunday night. Their 'Oh My Oh My' was the song of the fest for me.
As always Chris Hall's bands were right on the money, 'Slippin Away' was standout.
Lafayette RD's brought a true La.Cajun sound and Cory Ledet was superb all thru.
The organisers are to be congratulated for going ahead with the Sunday night in the open despite a bad forecast, we were fearful that the Saulieu 'virgins' in our party would not be able to experience that most magical part of the festival.
Here's to next year!
Glyn
