Just heard fron the Guildhall in Gloucester that they are no longer willing to run the festival so it is no longer on the calendar. Details are sketchy at the moment but i'll post more details as i hear them. Seems it lost around £1000 and the Head of Regeneration in Gloucester isn't prepared to subsidise it. My role over the last few years has been to programme it, organise all the bands, mc it, write the brochure, and generally help ensure it all runs smoothly on the weekend. I was asked by the council to help run it and thoroughly enjoyed working with all the bands and the terrific team of staff at the Guildhall. It was an ideal venue for such an event and i know many of the bands from the UK and Europe and of course from Louisiana rated it as one of the finest venues around for this music. It will be greatly missed by bands and audiences alike. I am considering the possibility of running the festival in conjuntion with another council at some time in the future but at this stage will be concentrating on my main occupation of playing music. More news later here and on my website at www.swampmusic.co.uk
