Future success in the UK for music from Lousianna will be won by performers who are able to embrace the 21st century while referring to the music's origins.
Trying to preserve it in aspic will cause it to be left on the shelf.
Fine for cajun and zydeco dancing clubs but bands need to include modern influences in their sets in both the way they play and the selection of songs.
Bemused punters who find it hard to distinguish between numbers and stand helplessly as wannabe country dancers shuffle around the dancefloor to the umpteenth 12 minute two-step, are not so likely to return - however much they were turned on by listening to Radio 2.
