Z-Funk just played a local gig on the Shropshire/Welsh borders last night and went down a storm with the locals!
Z-Funk's Funk/R&B, Nouveau Zydeco style hit the spot with the local crowd (a good mix of teenagers , 20-30's and middle agers) and had the whole place bouncing and when they ran out of dance floor they just danced on the chairs and tables!!! (no peeking through windows and tying each other in knots here!)
After the gig we were approached about more gigs and a couple of festivals and people asking where we are playing next, so it seems that there is a market in the mainstream venues and festivals for Zydeco bands, in Mid-Wales and Shropshire at least... and that's a good start!
Next Z-Funk gig is in a couple of weeks at an 18th Birthday Party in Mid-Wales!! It seems like the young gig goers of Mid-Wales and Shropshire are taking ownership of their local Zydeco bands at last!
So the plan now is to put on some more gigs in this area (along with Joe Le Taxi) and try and kick start more of a following... will see what happens, watch this space!!
Happy New Year...
