I don't think anyone is throwing flak at the dancers. Cajun dance is a vital part of the overall scene and many cajun clubs have positively benefitted from its presence. The problem is some cajun dancers get very sniffy when people get on the floor and simply bop about. Maybe their objections are well founded - cajun dancers do need space and good order on the floor to perform their intricate steps - but the result is they are driving away those who just come along for some fun.
We all need to relax. Cajun music cannot/must not be preserved in aspic or it will die. We need to be be far less stuffy about all this. Hard core cajun enthusiasts and Saturday night ravers looking for a good time - let them all come! Who cares some of them think a 'tit fer' is a hat and the Balfa Brothers are a team of scaffolders?
